People's March Indianapolis
If you believe that decisions about your body should remain yours, that books belong in libraries, not on bonfires, that healthcare is a right, not a privilege for the wealthy; if you believe in the power of free speech and protest to sustain democracy; or if you want an economy that works for the people who power it—then this march is for you.
The People’s March is about one thing: our power.
It’s a bold demonstration of the resilience of resistance:
- We march to unite the people who’ve been the backbone of resistance for generations—and to welcome even more
- We march to remind civil servants they answer to us
- We march to inspire, energize, and drive change long after the day is done.
This is our moment to remind Washington elites — and Americans everywhere — where the power truly lives: with the people.
Let’s make it count.

Message from the Organizer:
I am so excited to meet you all on January 18, 2025 at monument circle at 2PM.
This protest is permit-less. We all have a first amendment right to free speech and assembly, so let's just make sure we don't break any laws or obstruct any sidewalks or roadways. I think monument circle is a fine location to achieve this and that if we are asked to disperse that could be peacefully accomplished.
How Can I Get More Involved In This Event Specifically?

How Can I Get More Involved In This Event Specifically?
- Bring a sign. Laminate it if you have time, it might rain.
- I am still looking for one more safety committee member who is willing to watch a safety training video that is two hours long. Your responsibility would be to help deescalate situations where antagonism arises or help people disperse safely, etc.
- If you would like to share your reason for marching, let me know and maybe I will highlight it in the next email.
How Can I Get More Involved In the Future?
- Be aware of the local legislation being passed:
- 2025 Indiana Bills https://iga.in.gov/legislative/2025/bills
- Understand the language in these bills. Contact your representatives to know what you think about them.
- Browse the People's March home page. Research the affiliates. There are a lot of good causes out there.
- Rest and relax. This is likely going to be a very disappointing year. Take a trip to Turkey Run and see the frozen waterfall, have some hot cocoa with whole milk (not raw, we don't want to be starting an H5N1 epidemic up in here), connect with friends and family, take down your Christmas trees (or leave them up until February. It's your life, don't let me tell you what to do.)
- Join a local group of likeminded people.
- For any of you redditors out there, there's a subreddit r/auntienetwork. There's also r/WitchesAgainstPatriarchy, they welcome non-witchy lurkers.
- There is a DemHoosiers Discord, email me for details if you're interested in joining and I'll send you an invite.
Future and Alternative Events
- Unfortunately no one was interested in getting a bus this year, but for future reference it is about $200/person for a full bus ($6000 for 32 seater with a restroom)
- I encourage you to make a poster creation event with your friends the week before. Even if your friends don't plan on going to the protest, it never hurts to have extra posters and people to brainstorm ideas.
- I would like to maybe organize an event in the future that DOES have a permit. This would involve a lot more work and I would need more help. I would like to have it in the summer or early fall when it starts cooling off, not sure what date. We'll have to coordinate with existing people, but I can help get you in touch with them if you need help. I put all this together in a month. You could too, with training.
Why I Personally Decided to Do This
I wrote a whole message about how I want to support women's healthcare, but that's not really what this protest is about. This protest is about the fact that we don't know what's going to happen this year. Maybe very little will change. Maybe we'll all continue to be safe. Maybe none of our remaining freedoms are at risk.
But I think the evidence of the past has shown us they are. They told us Roe v Wade would never be overturned. Well it was. What other freedoms will disappear if we remain silent?
I want you to show up if you're afraid that your freedom to live your life the way you want is at risk. I want you to show up if you hate facism and are afraid of the parallels current events have to historical events. I want you to show that good people will not silently watch evil occur without being willing to stand up to it and say something. At the very least, we can show up.
